about

"Monologue" (May 2010), uses the blackhumourized voice of blackhumour reading blackhumour aloud (from "Tab to Block Bicuspid", blackhumour's increasingly sporadic journal of warm soft facts). I like the recursive nature of the subject matter and its treatment. It's the first time I've used my own voice extensively in my scarred and battered body of work. I encourage listeners to consider "Monologue" having a similar relationship to "Message From my Father" that Heller's "Closing Time" has to "Catch-22" or Roth's "The Dying Animal" has to "The Breast". Sometimes, there's nothing like using one's own voice to have the last word.
